85th Annual NYSE Christmas Tree Lighting
New York Stock Exchange will hold its 85th annual Christmas tree lighting on Broad Street between Wall Street and Exchange Place. A tradition since 1923, the NYSE’s tree lighting is believed to be the city’s oldest. Headlining this year’s tree lighting will be the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin. Ms. Franklin will perform two songs from her newly released, first ever holiday album, “This Christmas Aretha”. Also performing at this year’s tree lighting is Victoria Cuomo, Brendan James, the Monsignor Donovan Choir, Push Play, Tiffany Giardina, Gavin DeGraw, and the stars of the Broadway musical Irving Berlin's White Christmas. ABOUT THE NYSE CHRISTMAS TREE: This year’s tree is a 65’ high, 38’wide Norway Spruce from Nyack, NY. Situated in front of the NYSE façade, the tree is decorated with 10,000 multi-colored lights, 250 multi-colored balls with the NYSE logo and a 6’ star on top, all supported on a 8 x 10’ base fashioned as a gift box.
