Joseph HoetzlI was born and raised in Bayonne, NJ, but am now in Scotch Plains, NJ.  I Attended St. Andrew’s Grammar School in Bayonne, St. Peter’s Prep High School in Jersey City, and did a brief stint at NJIT.
Married since 2000, with one daughter that arrived in 2008 and one son that arrived in 2013.  I have one older brother, one younger sister. Mom is a nurse, dad is a civil engineer.

I truly enjoy photography, but I didn’t study arts or photography in school nor is it my full time profession (but I think I wish it was!). My dad, who has been a photographer since he was young makes for an excellent teacher.

I’ve been around computers for most of my life, starting with a Timex Sinclair 1000. I designed and authored one of the first “city” web sites on the internet for the city of Bayonne, which was featured in the NJ section of the New York Times newspaper back in 1997. The original site can be found in the wayback machine archives.

For over 16 years, I commuted into Manhattan daily for my full-time job in the IT side of the financial world where I was a Lotus Notes/Domino/Quickr Administrator/Designer/User, Firewall and router administrator, Blackberry Enterprise Server administrator, general LAN/WAN administrator, and I install, consult, train and support our own proprietary software. That firm was acquired in late June of 2010, and I am now in the Journal Square area of Jersey City, NJ, doing similar work, but without any of the Lotus, Blackberry or firewall stuff. Hmm, new stuff I guess.

I am also a member of and run the website for the historical society of Scotch Plains and Fanwood, NJ.
